Most schools can’t receive emails from the Minister for schools.

Telephone call this morning from a lady asking to make an appointment with her GP, I explained we were a school. “But he’s such a lovely man,” she said. “Such deep penetrating eyes.” I sympathised. “He hasn’t gone away?” she asked. I said I really didn’t know. “But don’t you have any doctors there?” she asked.

At which moment Havoc-Blythe walked into the room. “We have one,” I said. “I will put you across.”

Janice put a note in the staff room to the effect that the Latvian children were officially on our books and were being assigned classes. I emailed the Dept for Cushions and Soft Furnishings with a note saying that we would require treble funding to carry out the department’s specific instructions as per circular 06/9328/01/zzz I also asked them for a way to contact Columbus – and to my amazement they replied.

Much hilarity over the piece in the Times (www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article4052807.ece) about schools not being able to receive any emails that had the name of the Schools Secretary in them. How utterly true – we have had this problem since Mr B. came to power. We’ve told the Dept for Cushions about this a dozen times – but as the Times said today, all they reply is “We don’t know about IT”. As we keep telling the Dept – we would implement everything they say, if only they told us about it.

Further debate on the subject of the SECRET FILES – we have decided that SECRET FILES must always be written in CAPITALS. That is the files with the silly comments about each of us written in by management. The decision is that we should open our own files on everyone else in the school – if the management ever complain we shall offer to debate the matter in public – with their files on us brought in as evidence.

Janice circulated a list of names of senior people and we have each been asked to contribute.

Phone call from the local paper just as I was about to leave asking if we had difficulty with emails from the DfCSF – I told them that I wouldn’t know because we never received any emails from the DfCSF. Phone call from the DfCSF asking us if we were implementing the new school locker safety policy, and I said we had never heard of it. They said, “But we sent you an email.” I said, “that would explain it,” and put the phone down.

My task is now to write reports on senior managers.
